Dunedin Winter Gloom: August 2022

Europe has been baking in a heatwave, of course. Not so much this part of the world, which benefits by still being in Winter (though let’s just say I am not looking forward to January 2023). Not that it’s been a particularly cold Winter – we haven’t had one of those since 2015 – but it’s been a decidedly wet one. North Dunedin narrowly escaped a flooding situation in July, while even someone like Yours Truly, who prefers rainy mornings over frosty ones, got a bit tired of the damp monotony.

To illustrate the generic greyness that has been Dunedin’s Winter 2022, I thought I’d share a photo I took this afternoon, looking out from the suburb of Corstophine:

Yes, that is snow on the hills. But really, it’s the inescapable greyness that gets to you, even when it is not actually raining.
